One of the Best Days...Ever

My son is celebrating his birthday. He is beautiful and amazing and a most remarkable person. When I struggle to be the man I want to be, thinking of him cuts through any paralysis or rationale. To see him happy is one of the most profound joys I've ever known.

My hope for all of you is that in some way, you will come to know someone, anyone, as cool as my son. If you find someone like that in your life, then have been truly blessed.

A Slow Recovery

Last weekend I was a mess. It had simply been too long since I'd been able to spend time with my babies. Finally this weekend I was able to rectify that situation.

We had a blast. They are so amazing.

It doesn't matter what else is going on, what goes right or what goes wrong. Being with them, seeing their faces, listening to their voices, letting them crawl all over me. Everything is okay after that.

Last night after watching a movie with them snuggled on the couch, eating ice cream and being scared, I had the best sleep I've had in a month. It's like they have pixie dust and being around them it just rubs off on me, making me happy and right with the world.

Or maybe it's just that we eat so much junk food and I'm on a sugar high.

They're Coming

This past week, I flew in from India and have been wicked busy preparing for a short vacation with my babies. Finally, the day arrives.

My little ones fly in today and we're going to visit the theme parks and the beaches and just go crazy! This is so what I needed.

So for the next couple days I'm out of pocket, but I polished a couple new entries up for later.

I hope your spring break is as fun as mine is going to be!

Snow Patrol

The say that you need one day for every hour of time zone difference to recover from jet lag. That must be it, because I am still dragging. Of course, that fact that I've been working, even through my day off, probably has something to do with that as well.

This weekend was very much needed. I got to spend some quality time with my babies. That always cures whatever else is going on. They are so pickin' cute and adorable. And there is no quicker way to get your head out of your own garbage then to spend time loving on someone else. Especially when they are great as my babies.

I did get a chance to take in the Snow Patrol concert with a new friend which was a neat adventure and lots of fun. They played all the songs I love and did a 4 song encore which I thought was pretty cool. During the show they asked a girl from the audience to come up on stage and sing with them which was unique. They have great showmanship and I'd highly recommend you see them in concert.

Despite forward progress at work, this continues to be a stressful and hectic year, especially when it comes to travel. I'd appreciate your well wishes...

Holidays At Last

This weekend was my true Christmas. I spent the weekend with my babies in Portland enjoying the holidays. The big present this year was bikes!

We went and watched Beauty and the Beast on stage. They really like musicals. The production had some strong vocal performances, and was pretty solid all things considered. It moved a little slow at times as evidenced by a yawn or three from Emma. But Caleb really got a kick out of conducting the music and singing along. He is such a ham.

The Zoo Lights at the Oregon Zoo were pretty good this year. We rode the train and oohhh'd and aaahhh'd the lights and animals. All around was the smell of hot chocolate which makes it really feel like the holidays.

Now I'm heading back to a warmer climate to ring in the New Year. What hijinks can we get up to this year?

My Babies Are Back!

My babies have been out of the country in Costa Rica for the last month.  This has made for a very tedious month for me.  Now that they are back, there is light in the world again.  Hearing their happy voices so anxious to tell me about their wonderful adventures just lifted me so far out of the muck.  I can't wait for tonight to spend some much needed time with them.

Unhappy

When I haven't seen my kids in a while... I get grouchy.
When my friends are doing well... I get giddy.
When I don't work out for a week... I get gooey.
When the conversation is about boogers... I get gross.
When the air conditioning is too high... I get goosebumps.
When we share a secret... I get giggly.
When my project is going along smoothly, and then it isn't... I get grumpy.
